International White Cane Safety Day 2023
The SLCB organised a ceremony to mark the International White Cane Safety day. This ceremony was held on 15 th October at the SLCB Premises with Former Minister Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku as the Chief guest. Over 100 Visually Impaired Persons participated in this event. A highlight of this event was the awarding of financial assistance to 10 Visually Impaired Persons of Low-Income families by one of our Visually impaired Exco members Mr.R. D. Jayasinghe. Further, Ms. Thamarashi, Wickremanayake, presented an Audio Book written by het to the SLCB. All Visually Impaired Participants were given a White cane and were also treated to lunch by SLCB.
International White Cane Safety Day Project of Lions Club of Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, District 306C1
The Lions of Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte , District 306C1 together with the SLCB organised a project to mark the International White Cane Safety Day on 30 th October 2023 at the SLCB premises. The Lions club distributed Cash, Gifts & Dry rations packs worth approx. Rs. 10,000/= each to 25 Visually Impaired Adults. Lunch was also provided to all the participants. A white Cane was also given to each of the participants.
International White Cane Safety Day Project of Lions District 306A2
The Lions of District 306A2 together with the SLCB organised a project to mark the International White cane Safety Day. This was held on 4 th October 2023 at the SLCB premises. The Lions club distributed Dry rations packs worth approx. Rs. 7,000/= each to 30 students who followed the Rehabilitation classes conducted by SLCB.
